About this Course
Let’s explore the importance of eccentric muscle actions for sport performance, injury prevention and rehabilitation. Not only have eccentric muscle actions puzzled scientists for decades as they defy the theories of muscle contraction but also they have long been known in the realm of sport performance for their potency when used as a training method.
In this course we will discuss the science of eccentric muscle actions, how to measure eccentric strength capacities including eccentric rate of force development (RFD), and how to use eccentric training to improve our speed, power and braking ability. Notably, we will discuss the application of dual force plate methodology and the vertical jump to pinpoint trainable eccentric strength deficits through the use of case studies.
